Twenty years around wells, tanks, and tickets.
OnixOil is a Houston-based oil & gas company that supplies production equipment and ships purpose-built software. We're the team behind WellsManager, the operating system for upstream operators.
From a field supplier to a software studio.
OnixOil was founded in 2005 in Houston, Texas — the energy hub where most of the country's upstream decisions get made. We started as a supplier of drilling tools, production machinery, and safety gear for operators working conventional formations.
Over the next decade we expanded into artificial lift systems and production optimization, servicing what we sold out of a shop in Texas. That work taught us how operators actually run a lease — the spreadsheets, the tickets, the month-end fire drills — and exposed the gap between what enterprise oilfield software promised and what field teams actually needed.
In the 2020s we began building the software we always wished we had: purpose-built, modern, and honest about what it does. That work is now WellsManager — and a second product, Wellsrise, is in development for production forecasting and royalty projections.
Moments along the way.
Founded in Houston
Established as an upstream equipment supplier serving Texas operators.
Production optimization
Expanded into artificial lift systems and on-site tool servicing.
Software studio
Began shipping purpose-built upstream software from an in-house team.
WellsManager live
Our flagship OS for upstream ships in production. Wellsrise in development.
Three things we care about.
Proximity to the field
Every product decision starts with someone who's logged time on a lease. We design for the person holding the clipboard, not the deck.
Disciplined capital
We're PDP-focused — low-decline, long-life assets and careful drilling. The same discipline shows up in how we build software: small, shipped, and tested.
Honest partnership
Mineral, leasehold, and operator — we treat every relationship as long-term. Transparent service, prompt answers, no hidden fees.
